The calibration of your monitor Contrast and Brightness settings:

By performing this procedure, the images on this web site - and everywhere else! - will appear as intended!

For this calibration to be effective:

1. your monitor should completely warmed up (a minimum of 20 minutes).
    
2. Proper lighting conditions deliver the best screen performance:

• relatively low ambient lighting - approximately 300 lux,
• suitable contrasts in your visual field,
• screen distant from windows and the light parallel with the direction of your vision, etc.

 

1. First, adjust your monitor's Contrast setting as high as it will go (100%).
    
2. Then, while paying attention to the window below, adjust your monitor's Brightness setting until the black background window just starts to blend in with the black of the "screen adjustment".
    
3. You might want to adjust your Brightness level up significantly before adjusting it down to see the image within the black window below. Use this window for comparison.
